Getting started

Last updated 2026-10-05

Coming soon to the Atlassian Marketplace. AgentLens for Jira is not listed yet, so it cannot be installed today. Email support@mortiseapps.com to hear when it is available. The steps below describe setup once it is.

AgentLens gives AI agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Rovo and any client that speaks MCP) their own set of Jira tools and puts every call through your rules. Setup takes about 10 minutes for a Jira admin.

Prerequisites

Set up

  1. Install AgentLens from the Atlassian Marketplace (once the listing is live).
  2. Turn on the tools. Atlassian Administration → Apps → Sites → your site → Connected apps → AgentLens for Jira → Tools → Enable tools. Atlassian ships this off; it turns on all AgentLens tools at once.
  3. Open AgentLens: Jira settings → Apps → AgentLens. The Setup tab shows your MCP address, https://mcp.atlassian.com/forge/<app id>.
  4. Connect AI clients to that address (see the table below).
  5. Approve twice, once per person. Each person signs in with their Atlassian account and approves first the AI client's connection, then AgentLens's own access (the first tool call returns a link for it). After that, calls run as that person.
  6. Choose approvers: Settings → Approver groups. Jira admins can always approve.
  7. Close the side doors so agents cannot go around AgentLens (Atlassian Administration → Rovo → Rovo MCP server): block the Jira Write toolsets on the Permissions tab, turn off API-token access on the Authentication tab, and block AI clients you do not allow on the Domains tab. Limit who can create API tokens under Security.
